Provision of DSL, Cable, Satellite or Other Low-end Broadband Connections
In accordance with Century Code Chapter 54-59-02. The Information Technology Department (ITD) will provide these services to STAGEnet clients. Charges for these services are as follows:
State Agencies
Actual cost of the service plus a $28.25/device fee (includes a firewall and VPN clients if needed)
Higher Ed., Political Subdivisions and K-12
Actual cost plus $40/month.
VPN clients are $28.25/month each.
ITD will provide a pre-configured low end firewall (Linksys) with 4 ethernet
ports. You may install this yourself or hire ITD to install it.
ITD will install and maintain a Cisco Pix 501 firewall for a one time cost of $750. This firewall has network to network VPN capability for up to 10 devices.
VPN clients will be required to access any services located inside STAGEnet firewalls.
Local firewalls are required wherever VPN is used and highly recommended
for any broadband connection.
The use of VPN may cause slower then expected performance.
